Panel Discussion on Karnataka State Budget 2026-27

A panel discussion on the Karnataka State Budget 2026–27 was organized by the Institute for Inclusive Growth and Development (IIGD), Dharwad, at the Pensioners’ Hall near LIC, Dharwad.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by the welcome address and introduction of the panel members and the chairperson of the programme. The programme was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp.
On this occasion, Dr. S. V. Hanagodimath, President of IIGD, delivered the introductory remarks. He stated that the Institute undertakes research studies on various social issues and promotes research culture among students through lectures, workshops, and academic programmes.
The panel discussion featured Prof. S. T. Bagalkoti, Registrar, Haveri University, Haveri; Prof. V. B. Annigeri, Visiting Professor, Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi; and Prof. B. H. Nagoor, Chairman, Department of Economics, Karnatak University, Dharwad.
The panel members discussed various aspects of the Karnataka State Budget 2026–27 and its implications for the development of the state. Prof. V. B. Annigeri presented a comparative analysis of the economies of Karnataka and Maharashtra and emphasized the need for rationalization of government guarantee schemes. Prof. S. T. Bagalkoti stated that the budget attempted to include all sections of society and stressed the importance of linking service-sector growth with the rural economy. Prof. B. H. Nagoor welcomed the emphasis placed on the education sector and skill development and appreciated the government’s initiative in filling vacancies in educational institutions.
A question-and-answer session was also conducted during the programme. Narayan Billav, Assistant Professor, CMDR Dharwad, and students of JSS College, Dharwad, namely Sushant Navi, Suman Patil, and Moseen, actively participated by raising questions and interacting with the panel members. Teachers from various disciplines, research scholars, college students, and citizens from the Hubballi-Dharwad twin cities participated enthusiastically in the programme.
The programme was moderated by Dr. Balakrishna Bendre, member of the Institute. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ramappa Savadatti, Secretary of the Institute. Institute members Mr. Malatesh Aralikatti and Dr. Shanmukh Hiremath were also present on the occasion.
