Field Data Collection Work for Climate Vulnerability Project
Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Area
The Institute for Inclusive Growth and Development (IIGD), Dharwad, successfully completed the field data collection work for the project titled "Assessing Climate Vulnerability and Livelihood Challenges of the Urban Poor in Hubballi-Dharwad" in collaboration with Integrated Design (INDE), Bengaluru.
The project aimed to understand the climate-induced vulnerabilities faced by urban poor settlements in the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation area and to study the role of alternative energy in supporting livelihoods. As part of the Terms of Reference agreed upon between INDE and IIGD, Dharwad, the Institute undertook extensive field-level data collection activities with precision and in alignment with the objectives of the project.
Under the project, IIGD conducted household surveys covering 150 households across selected settlements through purposive sampling techniques and fourteen Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) across different urban poor settlements within the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation area.
IIGD also contributed to the development and refinement of survey tools in coordination with INDE. The Institute ensured systematic data collection, accurate data entry, cleaning of household survey responses, and documentation of detailed qualitative insights obtained through the FGDs.
The fieldwork was carried out successfully within the stipulated timeline. The project activities resulted in the preparation of cleaned datasets, summary reports of field execution, draft findings from FGDs, and analytical insights related to climate vulnerability and livelihood challenges among the urban poor.
The project was undertaken under the guidance of Dr. Anjali Karol Mohan, Partner - Integrated Design (INDE), Bengaluru.
