Workshop on Research Methodology and Data Analysis at Dharwad
Government First Grade College and PG Centre, Dharwad
On June 11, 2024, the Institute for Inclusive Growth and Development (IIGD), Dharwad, in association with the Department of Economics of Government First Grade College and PG Centre, Dharwad, organized a one-day workshop on "Research Methodology and Data Analysis." The workshop was conducted under the initiative of the IQAC and the Department of Economics. Mrs. Saraswathi Patil, Head of the Department of Economics, served as the coordinator of the workshop. The programme was presided over by Dr. Nalini Bengeri, Principal of the college. In her presidential remarks, she highlighted the relevance and importance of research for students and emphasized how research contributes towards the betterment of society and the development of knowledge.
Members of IIGD, including Ramappa Savadatti, Dr. Balakrishna Bendre, and Mr. Maltesh Aralikatti, served as the Resource Persons for the workshop. Addressing the gathering, Ramappa Savadatti introduced the Institute to the students and staff members and provided a brief overview of the objectives, mission, and activities of IIGD. Dr. Balakrishna Bendre spoke about the importance of research and explained the need for conducting research, especially among students, to enhance analytical thinking and academic development. Mr. Maltesh Aralikatti delivered a detailed session on approaches to social science research, methods of conducting research, and the various stages involved in research report writing. He also explained the procedures and techniques required for systematic and effective research work. The workshop was conducted successfully and proved highly beneficial in enhancing students’ understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and research report writing. The programme motivated students to actively engage in academic and social science research activities.
